What does MOCA do?
MOCA is a location-based customer engagement platform for mobile. You can use MOCA to add proximity awareness (geofencing & beacons) to your app, generate location-based insights, and run content-rich engagement campaigns to better engage your mobile audience.
How to get started?
The best way to find out whether MOCA is right for you is to sign up for a free trial! Our trial has all the key features that you need and would use on a regular basis. We encourage you to sign up and try if for free. We have also built a Developer Portal where you can browse a wide range of technical topics from setup to deployment to help you get started.
Where can I find a demo of MOCA?
To experiment with beacons, we recommend that you open a MOCA Free Trial account, download the MOCA Proximity Experience App from the AppStore, grab some beacons and try it for yourself. To see the platform in action, schedule live demo.
How does the 30-days free trial work?
There’s no risk, no obligation and no credit card required. You can cancel your account at any time by simply clicking on the “account settings” link on your dashboard.
What mobile platforms does MOCA support?
MOCA provides SDKs for iOS 7+, Android 4.2+, and PhoneGap/Cordova. Beacons are supported in all iOS versions and Android starting from 4.4 KitKat. Limited features are also available on Windows Phone 8 upon request.
Does MOCA support beacons from different manufacturers?
Yes. MOCA platform works with iBeacon-compatible devices. Although we officially do not provide support for those devices, many of our users report that, beacons from Gimbal, Estimote, Radius Networks and other manufacturs, are working smoothly with MOCA.
What about Eddystone support in MOCA?
Eddystone has just been launched by Google and we've already received tons of questions about it. That's amazing! Currently, we support Eddystone compatible beacons through MOCA Android SDK. iOS support is under development. We will be rolling out new Eddystone-related features later this year.
My app will not use beacons. Can I still use MOCA?
Absolutely. You may observe and segment your audience through analytics, and drive engagement with geolocation-based campaigns.
My app is frequently used offline. Does MOCA support offline experiences?
Yes, MOCA was designed from scratch with offline mode in mind. We support offline tracking, beacon interactions, geofencing and event full-screen rich-content delievery when offline. After user goes back online, MOCA silently submits collected data to the cloud and syncs the content like Dropbox does.
How many apps can I create in my MOCA account?
You can create an unlimited number of apps.
How do I share access to my app? Can multiple people collaborate on my app?
All paid plans allow you to share access to your app with one or more collaborators. Each collaborator will need to sign up for a MOCA account individually (free of charge for Pro and Enterprise plans). You can then invite them to collaborate on your app from the Collaborators panel in your app's Settings. Please note that you, as the app owner, will remain responsible for any charges incurred on your app. Collaborators will have their own level of access to the app, but they will not be able to delete the app or add more collaborators.
We need to add new collaborators to our app team. How will that be billed?
You may share your app with as many collaborators as you like without incurring additional charges.
Does MOCA integrate with other systems and applications?
We are actively developing MOCA integration ecosystem with CRM, ERP and other systems. But you can pretty much build anything you want on top of the MOCA platform via our Developer API.
Can I export my raw data?
Yes, you can access your raw data using MOCA Export API, which is available with the MOCA Enterprise plan.
Can you describe your storage architecture?
The data of MOCA customers is hosted on distributed cloud-based storage systems. All raw data points collected from MOCA SDKs are stored for backup and recovery purposes in a scalable, high availability and low latency cloud storage. The processed customer's data are stored in sharded, multi-replica databases so that there are no interruptions to service event if some servers go down. All components are replicated and load-balanced to provide service without interruption for maintenance.
How is data protected within MOCA?
The data transfer between MOCA component is encrypted and we only operate on HTTPS protocol. The data access on our backend is protected by Multi-Factor authentication and we monitor community's output closely to upgrade the service responding to new vulnerabilities as they are discovered.
Where are your data centers hosted?
MOCA is hosted on Amazon Web Services global infrastructure.
What is MOCA approach to data privacy?

Where I can find your Terms of Service (TOS) ?

Will you modify certain parts of your TOS (e.g. Limitation of Liability, Indemnification) to meet our internal legal standards?
We have designed our TOS to be industry-standard so that they meet the needs of companies across the board. To ensure fairness to all MOCA customers, our policy does not support customization of TOS. If our TOS does not meet your needs, please contact the MOCA sales and we will be happy to help you design a customized MOCA Enterprise plan.
What type of Service Level Agreements (SLA) do you offer?
We do not provide an explicit SLA for online MOCA packages, but that doesn't mean we won't work our hardest to take care of you. We will always do our best to keep our servers running and keep them running as smoothly as possible. If a problem occurs, we will use every resource at our disposal to resolve it as soon as possible. For Enterprise customers we provide enterprise-grade SLA.
Billing & Invoicing
What's a Monthly Active User (MAU)?
We count Monthly Active Users (MAUs) as people who have opened your app and have entered a geofence or a beacon proximity area at least once within the last 30 days. Billing by MAUs ensures that you don't get charged for inactive users.
Are there any setup fees? How do I implement?
There is no setup fee. However you can purchase training sessions or have one of our integration partners set up MOCA for you for a fee. Email our sales team at firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
What happens if I go above the plan I'm currently in?
If this happens, you'll automatically get billed at the rate in the next tier. Also congratulations are in order, because it means you are growing! If you are a MOCA Pro plan customer and go above the 100K user tier, you'll be billed 1199€ for that month. After a "transition month", you will engage with the MOCA Team to determine whether an Enterprise contract is appropriate for your organization's growth.
How long are your contracts? Can I change plans at any time?
MOCA plans are month-to-month or annual. You can start or stop or make changes to your plan at any time. However, you must note that refunds are not given for cancellation or downgrades. You may see Terms of Service for details. You can pay by credit card online, or you can opt for invoicing for anual contracts. Contact us for details.
What are my payment options - credit card and/or invoicing?
MOCA packages are designed to be easy to buy so we provide both credit card and invoicing options. Contact our sales team for more information.
How much does MOCA Enterprise cost?
Because MOCA Enterprise is completely customized to the customer's needs, pricing varies from customer to customer. Our goal is to offer you the best package that meets your business needs. Please contact an account representative today and we will create a custom quote for you.
Are there volume and term discounts available for larger environments with longer-term needs?
Yes, if you need multiple plans or if you are interested in a longer than 1-year subscription, request a custom quote to receive a special pricing and ongoing promotions. Please contact sales representative today and we will create a custom quote for you.
What if I have to cancel my self-service subscription?
You may cancel your self-service monthly or annual plan at any time. Your credit card will not be charged on your next billing cycle and your subscription will not renew.
Are there any applicable taxes?
Applicable taxes depend on the country you buy from. For Spanish companies we apply 21% VAT tax. For companies from European Community with a valid VAT number registered in VIES database, no taxes will be applied. For companies from US and other countries, no taxes are applied.
What will happen if MOCA is unable to charge my credit card? Will my app stop working?
If we encounter a problem charging your credit card, your app will not stop working immediately. We will inform you via email of the failed charge and ask you to update your credit card information. Once you update your credit card information, we will try to charge your account again within 24-48 hours. If your account fails to submit payment within 30 days, we reserve the right to disable your account.
